Update on Overtime and Holiday Pay

The law has changed for those working regular overtime across a 12week period. Previously your Annual Leave entitlement was based on your contracted hours but that has been challenged as many people who were regularly working overtime we losing significant amounts of money when they were off on A/L.

Consequently we’re encouraging members in sectors who regularly work overtime to put in a claim for any annual leave payments paid at your contracted hours rate. We think this to be significant for Ambulance workers in the region.

To recap on eligibility:

1) Members regularly work overtime in a 12 week period. (both incidental or booked overtime apply).

2) Members have had annual leave in the last 3months less one day (best to say last 2months to ensure we’re within the timeframe.

3) Members we paid at their contracted hours while on annual leave not their average/usual working pattern given their regular overtime.
